CORPORATE EVENT PHOTOGRAPHY

DOCUMENT YOUR BUSINESS EVENT THE RIGHT WAY

Enterprise event photography covers an extremely wide array of business occasions, from high-level conferences and networking gatherings to business workshops and team building opportunities. This service can be of interest to organisations of all sizes and from all business sectors for photographic coverage ranging from several hours (in the case of a business brunch or an exclusive cocktail evening) to entire weeks (in the case of of a national, European, or global summit spanning days of presentations, training sessions and social activities).

In order to provide a complete and accomplished coverage of whatever the occasion may be, a corporate event photographer requires true competence in an array of PR-related photo genres. With this, event photography necessitates the experience, technical proficiency, versatility and energy to work in any given environment and within tight itineraries, all whilst being able to respond to any number of spontaneous requests that may arise throughout the proceedings.

I aim to make each image of my event coverage tells story about and generate interest in both the occasion itself and its attendees. Whatever the intended use of the photographs - whether for printed brochures, digital press releases, or social media posts - I assure clients receive meticulously retouched corporate imagery with true promotional value.

With a creative background in advertising, marketing and communication, I appreciate more than anyone the publicity value of effective corporate event reportage. Therefore, in terms of photography, I’m careful to work in shots from angles that maximise the grandeur of each occasion, so as to make even the most modestly-attended gatherings appear sizeable and dynamic. In terms of retouch, my approach is extremely thorough and ever-sensitive to the intended high-level context in which the final photographs will be displayed. Presentation is everything.

I openly encourage clients to communicate any preferences they might have with regards to how I document their event. Otherwise, and in the vast majority of cases, I simply submit the combination of photographs that collectively portray the occasion in the most engaging and all-inclusive way.

FAQs ABOUT CORPORATE EVENT PHOTOGRAPHY

Q) What are your rates for photographic coverage?
As I outline in my general FAQs, I give personalised quotes, tailored to your specific needs. You can quickly receive a comprehensive quote for your upcoming event through my quote request form.

Q) How many photographs do you submit per event?
Unless an amount is specified or indicated in your brief, I'll propose image-counts based on the type, scale and duration of the event you’ve described. As with all other aspects of my quote, should what I suggest not correspond to your requirements, simply let me know and I’ll modify the proposal as appropriate.

Q) When will we receive the photographs / What is your turnaround time (TAT) ?
Even for large-scale commissions, my standard turnaround time is extremely fast. Depending, of course, on my availability following an assignment, I can usually meet any requested deadline. I openly encourage you to specify any deadlines you may have when you submit your brief.

Q) We mainly want candid images - is this possible?
Of course. If clients prefer, they can communicate a target “photo split”, specifying the general proportion of each type of shot they'd like to receive, e.g. "80% candid, 15% portrait, 5% branding”.

Q) In addition to the event coverage itself, we would like group portraits of key executives - can you assist?.
Throughout a formal social gathering, I’ll often take spontaneous portraits of clusters of attendees, whether request or, in accordance with the occasion, suggested by me. However, if you require a dedicated portrait session with corresponding lighting and post-production, I can certainly accommodate. Should your itinerary allow, these could be taken as part of or during the event proceedings or prior to or following the gathering; otherwise, we can schedule the portrait shoot on an additional date.

CONFERENCES

Conference photography covers any formal proceedings with either a speaker-audience arrangement (such as a lecture, a keynote presentation, a product unveiling, or an awards ceremony) or a discussion format (such as a public or closed debate, a round-table meeting, a seminar, a forum, a convention or a congress).

Being fully aware of the importance of conveying the intrigue of and interaction between the participants, I ensure my coverage of the occasion captures the most intriguing perspectives and places as much emphasis on the expressions of the audience and panel members as on those of the key speakers.

BUSINESS NETWORKING

COCKTAIL & EVENING NETWORKING EVENTS

Whether as an assignment in itself or as part of a multi-day event coverage, evening networking photography includes any post-work formal social occasion (commonly labelled cocktail or apéro in the French event industry). Such meet-and-greet gatherings are as much a chance for work colleagues to bond as they are an opportunity for new professional connections to be made. When part of larger event, such as a conference or summit spanning several days, they can also provide an important break for participants. For this reason, when creating an event documentary I’m ever conscious to gauge the feel of each attendee, namely of their desire to be photographed in a particular moment; I know therefore exactly when to hang back and give guests their space (whilst capturing discrete candid images from afar) and when it’s appropriate for me to step in closer for more dynamic angles and event portraits.

COFFEE & BRUNCH NETWORKING

Daytime networking opportunities typically arise within the context of a larger event, such as in the break periods between conferences or in the dedicated recreation areas of trade shows, but, in the case of business meetings and morning brunches, their documentary can easily form an assignment in itself. Typically, daytime networking is more work than social, hence the most appreciated photography approach tends to be one of utmost discretion, so as to capture the truly natural interactions between participants.

WORKSHOPS & CANDID PR REPORTAGE

WORKSHOPS

Corporate workshops can take two guises: either work-related - typically in a closed seminar format - or social - typically in an open participative format. Whether centred around industry-based exercises (e.g. for training and discussion purposes) or around non-work-related activities (e.g. for team building purposes), through capturing the interactions and energy of the participants I always aim to convey the desired elements of motivation and engagement.

CANDID PR IMAGES

More so than portrait or meet-and-greet situations, the most dynamic and effective public relations photography generally comes from natural and up-close interactions. Classic opportunities for capturing such moments are internal meetings.

TEAM BUILDING

BUSINESS OUTINGS

Whether the activity is participative - such as a team-based - or passive - such as entertainment-based, business outings encourage energetic social interactions. They are the networking opportunity where those involved are the most at ease (and the least at work). As a photographer, therefore, I always take full advantage of the opportunities they provide for me to really get up close and document the occasion from a participant’s perspective.

GALA DINNER EVENTS & BOAT EVENTS

A gala dinner event in Paris can take numerous forms; it can be a simple sit-down affair proceeded by a cocktail social, or it can be an extravagant occasion interspersed with entertainment, award ceremonies and conference-style presentations. Paris cruises and boating trips are an evermore popular idea for such company social events. Having the continually changing perspectives of the Seine river in the background, they are arguably the most time-efficient way for an event organiser to give their international guests a true taste of the French capital.

TRADE SHOWS, TRADE FAIRS & EXHIBITIONS

Trade convention setups can be occasions in themselves occupying entire floors of the largest exhibition spaces in Paris, or they can form smaller integral parts of a more varied day of activities, such as the sponsor desks installed around the networking areas of a business summit. Such event layouts really can offer the ideal opportunities for event reportage: the engagement and enthusiasm created through an innovative product demonstration; the presentation and promotion of a new device or piece of technology; clear and exclusive branding opportunities for each attending enterprise; and the inevitable business networking taking place around each merchandise stand. My job as a trade show photographer is to remain constantly attentive to these rich visual opportunities and to ensure I capture the very best of them.

BEHIND-THE-SCENES (BTS) imagery

Opportunities for capturing behind-the-scenes imagery can present themselves during the preparation for any kind of business service. The most common request for BTS stills are to support promotional interviews for online publications and campaigns. Clients can be the corporations themselves or intermediary production teams specialised in corporate articles for business magasins.
