This tour of the Paris Seine river was the key social event of a multi-day international conference, based, during the day, at an event loft in Boulogne-Billancourt.

Compared to previous dinner cruises I’ve done, lighting was not only poor, but also extremely poorly distributed, with sporadic pools of intense light placed seemingly at random; bouncing light off the vessels windows and low-glass ceiling serving little purpose, I used therefore an good amount of direct flash. Despite this, the vessel itself was excellent, with its “all glass” walls meaning that it was rarely hard to find angles that gave the context of the Paris Seine river at night. In addition, the presence of the magician, who passed from table to table, was fantastic for engaging guests in the same activity - when photographing event guests networking or in workshops, the shots where everyone is focused on the same thing (as appose to on simultaneous conversations etc) generally make for much more harmonious images.
