Concert photography for “Decades of Freedom”, the global music event organised by Poland’s oldest and largest music publisher, PWM EDITION. This initiative, which consisted of 22 international concerts (11 in Poland, 11 worldwide), celebrated the 100th anniversary of the restoration of Polish independence. My assignment was, obviously, photographing the Paris concert.

Other than some very quick shots of the audience just before the ensemble took to the stage, my movement was confined to the top level of the auditorium, hence the uniformity in the camera angles. An absolute silence was demanded, to such a degree that even bursts / high-speed shooting was not permitted; I therefore timed my chosen shots very carefully.

I used 3-4 lens combinations throughout the performance, though perhaps the majority of the shots were taken with the Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM + Canon 1.4 extender iii combination, which at a smaller fixed aperture of 4.0, performs excellently for slow moving subjects, even in such extreme low-light conditions.
