PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY IN PARIS

YOUR PROFESSIONAL PORTRAIT SHOOT

No matter what your professional domain, no matter which industry you represent, at some point you’ll require a headshot. Whether you’re a business or an independent professional, presentation is everything, so investing in a set of professional portraits for you, your team or your department is always a worthwhile investment.

My portrait clients are typically divided into two types: those requiring portraits for use in a more corporate context (such as for business profiles) and those requiring more creative, promotional imagery for publicity purposes (such as photographs for an acting portfolio or author’s biography).

You can choose to have portraits taken at your desired Paris location; at a commercial, public or private address; or in my Paris photography studio. Or any combination of these.

The possibilities for your portrait shoot being endless, prior to the shoot I’ll request as much information as possible regarding the intended purpose of your headshots, so as to produce images with which you can most effectively sell yourselves, in whatever way and for whatever context that might be.

My approach to retouching portraits is meticulous and ever-sensitive to how you intend to use the final images and, ss with all other aspects of the shoot, I welcome any requests or preferences regarding the post-production of your images; as a former graphic designer, my knowledge of image editing far exceeds standard retouch requirements, and, as such, I can accommodate more advanced requests, such as those involving photo montage.

With regards to lighting equipment, I have all the essential material at my disposal to create any kind of look in any location, and, being experienced in both studio photography and natural light photography, I’m proficient at combining the two approaches.

FAQs ABOUT BOOKING PORTRAITS & HEADSHOTS IN PARIS

Q) My company would like employee headshots against a seamless white background, but we’ll need this to be done on our premises. Can you accommodate?
This is no problem; I can provide a neutral background, along with all the lighting equipment required for an on location studio setup.

Q) Can I get both black-and-white and colour versions of my photographs?
For portraits assignments your’ll receive, as standard, both a colour and a black-and-white version of every photograph. Note that my black-and-white versions are true edits (i.e. I do not merely apply a filter, as happens so often in this type of photography).

Q) How much do you charge for an acting portfolio?
I make proposals tailored to the individual needs of each client, so as to fully accommodate your personal preferences. Simply describe your ideal portrait shoot and I’ll get back to you with a suitable proposal.

Q) Which outdoor locations do you cover?
On this website, I’ve provided a list outlining popular photography areas and my advice on how to best explore them. Remember, however, that we can shoot at any location in or around Paris; the choice is entirely yours.

CORPORATE PORTRAITS & HEADSHOTS

A professional headshot shoot creates a set of portraits which can be used in any business context. No matter our field of work and its level of formality in terms of presentation and dress requirements etc, we’ll always find good use for a portfolio of quality profile images. Whether to accompany industry websites, articles, publications, cvs or professional biographies, having a well-varied collection of portraits at your disposal, you will always have a visual to hand to suit any context.

For companies, not only can an entire team be photographed both collectively and individually within a single well-coordinated day of shooting, but a portrait session can also be combined with an architectural interior shoot of office spaces and candid PR imagery, all of which contributes towards conveying a professional, dynamic and welcoming work environment.

Private clients can choose to be photographed in studio or - to add the context of a specific place or environment to their photographs, at the outdoor location of their choosing; for Paris-based photo shoots, one is truly spoilt for choice in terms of backdrops.

MODELLING & ACTING PORTFOLIO PHOTOS

Creative professionals need promotional imagery that not only presents them in their best light, but represents their artistic field. Asides from the image quality afforded by a professional portrait shoot, through an ongoing dialogue between the subject and the photographer the final photographs will ensure that the unique character of the creative individual is fully conveyed. Whether you are a performer requiring imagery for an acting portfolio, a musician requiring promotional imagery for an album sleeve, or an author requiring an ideal portrait to accompany your next publication, having a series of professional photographs is indispensable.

NATURAL LIGHT PORTRAITS

Working so much on location, using natural light is second nature to me. This fundamental tool of portraiture allows shoots to unfold very fluidly in a relaxed and intimate way, whilst placing you in the environment of your choosing. If you want a relaxed and fluid photography session which really brings your surroundings into play, a natural light photo shoot is the way to go.

STROBE PORTRAITS ON LOCATION

Whilst for dedicated portrait sessions taking place indoors its usage is very much standard, strobe (studio flash) lighting can equally be employed outdoors to really separate subjects from their background and place the focus of the image even more on the subject themselves. If you appreciate the definition and unique look produced by artificial lighting, a strobe shoot should certainly be a consideration.

If you’re enquiring about an outdoor portrait session and would like strobe enhanced portraits (as apposed to exclusively natural light) simply let me know in your brief.

STUDIO PORTRAITS

If you want versatile portraits that are entirely about you and not bound to a specific locational context; if you want an unparalleled level of definition and clarity, then consider a studio portrait session.

For businesses, I have all of the tools at my disposal to set up an on location studio (with your choice of background) directly on your premises. This allows studio quality results without the need for you (or your team) to travel. This is immensely practical for team photo shoots involving multiple subjects, as it allows a portrait session to take place during work hours with minimal disruption to people’s schedules.

For private clients, my studio space is perfect for individual portraits and provides everything from standard business headshots on neutral (white, grey, black) backgrounds to more creative light set ups.
